But there's more. Three new iPhones and a car apparently are part of the deal as well. The icing on the cake is he now becomes a paid consultant to CertiCell. The message seems clear: hack an iPhone get rewarded.
I am wondering how long this hacker love will go on. I have no idea what laws may have been broken, or the effects of breaching the AT&T and Apple terms of service regarding the iPhone and it's underlying wireless subscription. None of this really seems to matter, or at least it appears that way in the media.
What if Hacker was Female
In the back of my mind I am debating if this hacker was a woman, exactly what kind of fame and fortune would have been bestowed upon her? I really have no idea. I just can't imagine that she would have received the same kind of "fame" as Mr. Holtz.
What do you think? I'd like to know. Do you think a 17 year old female heading off to college after spending her entire summer hacking an iPhone would get:
- Fame and Recognition in the Media
- Apparently no action from Apple or AT&T lawyers
- Car, new iPhones, and paid consulting job
