The interview is designed to allow women, who are largely seen as late adopters when it comes to technology, to share their experiences with iPhone and smartphones in general. A sample TATV show is located here. TATV's segment on iPhone Women will air at a later date on Chicago Access Network television and also will appear on TechAccess.TV.

Security Firms Issues iPhone Safari Warning

SPI Labs posted a warning for Apple iPhone users who make web calls using Safari. According to the post SPI is working with Apple to remedy the exploit.

The Apple iPhone’s Safari web browser has a special feature that allows the user to dial any phone number displayed on a web page simply by tapping the number. SPI Labs has discovered that this feature can be exploited by attackers to perform various attacks, including:

  • Redirecting phone calls placed by the user to different phone numbers of the attacker’s choosing
  • Tracking phone calls placed by the user
  • Manipulating the phone to place a call without the user accepting the confirmation dialog
  • Placing the phone into an infinite loop of attempting calls, through which the only escape is to turn off the phone
  • Preventing the phone from dialing

Apple Restocks iPhone

Illinois, New York and most of California's Apple retail stores are fully stocked with iPhones. The company has yet to release official unit sales numbers. I suspect they will after reaching the one million mark, which amounts to half a billion dollars in revenue based on sales of the 4GB model at $499.

California stores lacking iPhones:
  1. Costa Mesa, South Coast Plaza
  2. Glendale, Glendale Galleria
  3. Santa Clara, Valley Fair

'Free the iPhone' Gathers Internet Momentum

A movement to 'Free the iPhone' offers consumers a chance to rant about free wireless Internet. Components include a form letter, mini website banner ad and videos posted on YouTube (see below).

Apple iPhone Locked Until 2012

What good will it do to debate a non-issue since Apple and AT&T have a deal for five years in place? Not much. The campaign should heighten awareness of Free Press and their mission:
Free Press is a national, nonpartisan organization working to reform the media. Through education, organizing and advocacy, we promote diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, and universal access to communications.
Underlying this effort are other issues with iPhone as the poster child. Consumers who want their iPhone will get it regardless of how free the Internet is or not. Many people may have no idea about wireless spectrum auctions or how the FCC really works.

A Free Press release further explains their goals here.
